Meet Pandion, the purpose-built, intelligence-powered shipping network for e-commerce delivery led by former head of Amazon Air, Scott Ruffin.

What They’re Solving For: In the current climate of increased consumer expectations and instant gratification, retailers want to reward customers with faster, more reliable, and cost-effective delivery, but often lack the Amazon-like means or scale to do so. At the same time, when it comes to consistent speed, care, and capacity, companies can no longer just depend on the national parcel carrier duopoly.

What They Do: With the pandemic-driven surge and sustained demand for direct-to-consumer shipments, retailers have never needed efficient, data-powered delivery service more. Pandion offers just that, leveraging machine learning and its proprietary universal label to make the best delivery decisions for every package. The result: a faster, more precise, and more reliable delivery experience for its partners and their customers.

How They Do It: Pandion uniquely manages the package journey for brands, retrieving parcels from customers’ fulfillment centers, categorizing packages through a connected system of sortation centers, and delivering items through a vast network of 500K+ final-mile carriers. In Pandion’s words, “We move fast to make your brand the hero, all the way to your customer’s hands.”

The Results To-Date: Today, Pandion delivers to more than 80% of homes in the U.S. The company additionally owns and operates a network of sortation centers with locations in the metro areas of Philadelphia, Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta (with even more to come). Collectively, these centers provide the capacity and proximity to deliver millions of packages across the country. With its expanding reach and unrivaled package-level flexibility, Pandion has created an optimal delivery experience, often at a lower price point than national and regional providers.

Why We Like It: The market and problem are huge. In 2022, 21.2 billion packages shipped in the U.S., and by 2028, annual parcel volume is projected to reach 32 billion. Needless to say, effective shipping and delivery networks have become essential to keeping households and economies running. But demand surges, labor challenges, and capacity constraints regularly threaten the system. At a time when retailers are diversifying their carrier portfolios, Pandion offers a more flexible and responsive shipping network.

Where They’re Headed: Pandion will use the new funding to accelerate the growth of its residential parcel delivery network, including building new technology offerings, expanding its geographic reach, and increasing delivery speed for customers like Saks Fifth Avenue. The company additionally announced new additions to its leadership team (who have an impressive range of experience from previous roles at Flexport, Target, Amazon, FedEx Express, Dolly, and more) to help steer its next phase of growth.

We’re excited to partner with Pandion as it scales its next-generation e-commerce delivery network — and strengthens America’s supply chain resilience. To learn more about the company, visit pandion.com.
